What exactly is Ranch on the Side? We’ve all been there, at least once in life. Dining out and ordering a meal and deciding that we want ranch dressing with our salad, on the side. We do this for various reasons. Maybe one prefers to have a touch of dressing with the dinner salad, instead of the drench that sometimes happens. Maybe one requests it to go with something else that is ordered. Me? I ask for it on the side so I can control just how much goes on my salad. Ranch on the side, in this blog context, is about our little life with an array of animals. It’s not a full on ranch, it’s not a farm and it is definitely not a homestead. In between work life and home life we have a ranch on the side.
STERLING MEADOWS RANCH
Meet my wife Charlie. And the roos. They love walnuts. Our English Walnut trees produce so many and they think it’s a treat. It also guarantees contact because when they see a human, they expect walnuts to be opened by them. Aside from our one lonely Lavender Orpington Roo, the rest are standard Cochins. They are the nicest and gentlest roosters. I know. Our household was attacked constantly by an angry rooster. I won’t tell you his name but it rhymed with passhole. Anyway, I love my wife more than she will ever know. I love her more than her fear of spiders. One time, there was a spider on the wall by the bed. I was sitting on the bed when she saw it and she grabbed her pillow, yelled spider and ran into the bathrooom. She saved her pillow. And she loves feeding the roos walnuts. Maybe this gives you some insight as to why I love her so. To be fair, she saved a water pillow which is like a waterbed but pillow sized.
